Does your game have a character creation mode, where players can change their appearances?
Just looking at youtubers creating characters is fun to watch. If the character looks similar to the youtuber, watching the game becomes more emotional.
One example is a baseball tournament held by a virtual youtuber group every summer. Every character is customized to look like the virtual youtubers participating in the tournament. VTubers play as managers instructing and training characters, which has the same name and visuals of other Vtubers.
The youtube below is one of the games in the tournament. The beginning has Japanese conversations but you can look at the game visuals around 18:00.
You can see familiar characters hitting, batting, and making errors. This is much more engaging than watching a game with unfamiliar characters, increasing viewers and followers. Fans of VTubers might start playing your game afterwards, increasing active users and revenue.
Not every game has a character creation. To have viewers enjoy the customized appearances, the camera needs to look at the player. So first-person games will not fit well. But other types of games, whether casual or hard-core should look into character creation.
Letting players create their own characters will generate a community celebrating user creativity.
As always, please feel free to let me know your thoughts! Thank you.
